This handout will explain what literature reviews are and offer insights into the form and construction literature reviews.

This form examines literature selectively in order to support or refute an argument, deeply imbedded assumption, or philosophical problem already established in the literature. When randomization using mathematical techniques, such as the use of a random numbers table, is employed to assign patients to test or control treatments, the trials are characterized as randomized controlled trials. Causes are termed necessary when they must always precede an effect and sufficient when they initiate or produce an effect.
